Arcam

Arcam When two friends from the engineering school at Cambridge University came together and decided to design and manufacture audio gear back in 1976, no once would have guessed that the company they created would turn into one of the best known brands in the hi-fi industry, Arcam.

Arcam has never been afraid nor backdown from a challenge to obtain audio perfection – for example, the company is the only British based manufacture to ever design, develop, and manufacture a Dolby S cassette player. They have also lead the industry in the digital domain when they launched the first off-board DAC to help “un-digitize” the sound reproduced by CD playback.

Today Arcam is one of the leading manufacturers in both 2-channel home audio and home cinema. Their work with Class-G amplification has allowed the company to make leaps and bounds where others have failed. Their multi award winning FMJ A19 integrated amplifier proved to the audio industry that a person didn’t have to spend an arm and a leg to get unbelievable sound. When it came time to improve upon the A19, Arcam developed their flagship integrated amplifier, the A49, which incorporates pure Class-A and Class-G amplification for an unprecedented level of performance. Three other amplifiers (the A39, SR250, and P49) utilise this topology and most recently John Atkinson of the US based hi-fi magazine, Stereophile, gave the P49 a Class A rating for its outstanding performance.

In the home cinema world, Arcam employed everything they have learned from their 2-channel amplification and digital playback and incorporated into their AVR series. Taking it one step further, they now include one of the best room correction technologies available, Dirac Live. Your movies have never sounded so good.

Arcam’s moto, Brining Music and Movie to Life, has never been so true.
